To Become a Christian

How do I become a Christian?
This is the most important questions you will ever ask yourself. The answer to this question is simple. It is so easy many doubt its sincerity. For the purposes of answering the question without a lot of hype, here are the basics. When you see a book in paraenthese like this, (John 3:16), this is the book, chapter and verse found in the Bible. This will help clear up any misconcived notions.

Becoming a Christian, Basics 101

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved!  (Acts 16:31)
"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved!" (Romans 10:9)

Simple right? Well, Yes and No. While this is the best question you will ever answer yes to, we tend to make this overly complicated. You should also understand these tenants of the faith to better understand what you saying YES to.

Basics 201
Here are seven really quick basic things that can help you answer your own questions.

First.
You must believe that God exists.  He exists in one person.
"Hear oh Israel, the Lord our God is one God." (Deuteronomy 6:4)
We believe in one eternally existent, infinite God, Sovereign Creator and Sustainer of the universe; that He only is God, [creative and administrative,] holy in nature, attributes, and purpose[;]. The God who is holy love and light [that He, as God,] is Triune in essential being, revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

(Genesis 1; Leviticus 19:2; Deuteronomy 6:4-5; Isaiah 5:16; 6:1-7; 40:18-31; Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19-20; John 14:6-27; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Galatians 4:4-6; Ephesians 2:13-18; 1 John 1:5; 4:8)

Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Triune Godhead; that He was eternally one with the Father; that He became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and was born of the Virgin Mary, so that two whole and perfect natures, that is to say the Godhead and manhood, are thus united in one Person very God and very man, the God-man.

We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins, and that He truly arose from the dead and took again His body, together with all things appertaining to the perfection of man’s nature, wherewith He ascended into heaven and is there engaged in intercession for us.

Second
You must believe that God loves you.
"For God so loved that world that he gave his one and only son, that whosover,(thats you), believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life!" John 3:16

Third.
You must believe in birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
"For the Son of Man, (Jesus), has come to save that which was lost, (Us)."  Matthew 18:11

Fourth.
You must believe that he paid YOUR sin debt for YOU on the cross.
"We have ALL sinned and fell short of the glory of God"  Romans 3:23

Fifth.
You must accept that you are a sinner.
"All of us have become like one who is unclean and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags." Isaiah 64:6

Sixth.
You must believe that God is holy and rightous.
"Because it is written, Be ye Holy; for I am holy." 1 Peter 1:16-25

Seventh.
You must believe that Jesus died willingly, in YOUR place for YOUR sins because he loves you more than you can ever know.
"As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name." (John 1:12).

If you believe these things, there is one thing you need to do right now. Pray this simple prayer to God, right now...

Say, "Lord Jesus, I accept that I am a sinner and you came and died for me. I accept you as Lord of my life and I accept the promise of eternal life. I give to you my sins and I accept your forgiveness you gave to me on the cross you died on. Come into my life and make me whole."
